Game 3 of the ALCS is set to take place on Wednesday evening, and the Toronto Blue Jays are looking to erase an 0-2 deficit after dropping the first two contests at home against the Seattle Mariners. After eliminating the New York Yankees handily, the Blue Jays were very much expected to represent the AL in the World Series.

But now they will have to be the first team to ever overcome an 0-2 ALCS deficit with those two losses coming at home. And it has many Yankees fans wondering — did the Blue Jays and their fans treat the ALDS as their own personal World Series just so they could secure the bragging rights and "ha ha, I told you sos!" over their division rival over the next full calendar year?

The Blue Jays savagely celebrated after eliminating the Bombers. Who could blame them, really? Was it obnoxious? Absolutely. But they had every right to do it. Just like how Yankees fans had every right to do it to the Boston Red Sox after the Wild Card round.

The problem is ... you need to back that up. The Yankees didn't do it against Toronto, so they got savaged. The Blue Jays took it to the next level, with Vladimir Guerrero Jr. exclamining "Daaaa Yankees lose!!" live on FOX with David Ortiz. Manager John Schneider, right before popping champagne, said "start spreading the news b-tches!". The Jays put the Vladdy clip in their ALCS hype video ahead of Game 1. A fan was spotted wearing a custom-made Blue Jays jersey that read "DAAAAA ... Yankees lose" . A group of Blue Jays fans did whatever this was.

They made their entire identity beating the Yankees. It's now commonplace behavior for every Yankees opponent, given how deep the hatred runs because of the Bombers' past success (which is then, of course, invalidated by those same fans, who claim any championship prior to 1970 is illegitimate).

Thankfully, former Yankee Alex Rodriguez gave it to the Blue Jays on FOX's postgame coverage of ALCS Game 2, saying what every New York fan was thinking for the national audience.

A-Rod summed it up. The Blue Jays climbed the mountaintop. They beat their perceived best competition in the AL. They had the entire baseball world behind them as they did it. They celebrated with aplomb. Buck Martinez's criticism of the Yankees just "not being a very good team" was validated. As a result of their success, they were off Thursday and Friday, while the Mariners had to play a 15-inning marathon on Friday night before play restarted on Sunday evening.

They had time to line up their rotation, rest their bullpen, and do some more research as they prepared for their next opponent. Instead, they came out flat, losing by a combined 13-4 in those two games at the Rogers Centre. The Mariners' exhausted pitching staff neutralized them in Game 1, then Seattle's offense battered rookie Trey Yesavage the next night after he was endlessly praised for striking out 11 Yankees over 5 1/3 innings — this time around, he allowed three earned runs before recording an out. Vladimir Guerrero Jr. doesn't have a hit after batting .529 against the Yankees.

We're not sure what happened either, Alex. But we know for sure that if the Blue Jays don't dig deep and figure out a way to rebound, they will be reminded of their overall historical ineptitude, which somehow has gotten lost in all of this simply because they defeated a team the baseball community at-large dislikes. Cool stuff.
