If you'd like to watch all 162 New York Yankees games in 2026, you'll need to make certain you have access to Apple TV+, Amazon Prime, and the Gotham Sports App. You'll also need to sign up for another service if you'd like to watch the very first Yankees game of the year.
Opening Day, a national holiday for many, bizarrely won't include the Yankees next season. Instead of a traditional opener, they'll be beginning their pennant chase in an isolated primetime contest against the San Francisco Giants - you know, that totally traditional opponent who they somehow also opened their campaign with two years ago.
That move was clearly set up to play off of the uncertainty of Aaron Judge's free agency fate; while nobody in the head offices knew whether he was choosing the Yankees or Giants, they were fairly certain he was going to choose one of them.
This time around, we're ... not 100% sure why these two teams were selected for MLB's new showcase game, but it always made sense that it was being set aside for a reason, and not just for a standard ESPN broadcast. Testing out live baseball on Netflix is an appropriate wave of the future, even if some traditional Yankee fans are definitely going to despise this.

How to Watch Yankees vs. Giants Opening Day 2026: Netflix, apparently!
Hopefully, an aging Mike Tyson doesn't wander onto the middle of the field and ask Judge and Willy Adames to tag-team beat him up.
The Yankees and Giants will be the first game in a three-year relationship between Netflix and MLB, which will also purportedly hold the rights to next summer's Home Run Derby broadcast. There's also a rumor included in the above press release that Netflix and Peacock will share some broadcasts of tentpole events (eg, the Bristol Motor Speedway game), leaving FOX somehow in the lurch. No comment was presented in response to that request for information.
Regardless, it seems safe to expect Netflix to grab a few other Yankees-centric showdowns in the years to come, so in a way, we're lucky they're forcing us to get on board early. Yeah. That's the spin. Lucky.
