The New York Yankees picked up their biggest win of the season on Thursday, as they blitzed Toronto and presumptive AL Cy Young Robbie Ray for five home runs (two from Aaron Judge) en route to a convincing 6-2 victory.

After going a combined 5-1 against the Red Sox and Blue Jays, the Yankees sit in the driver’s seat for the top Wild Card spot.

After Thursday’s win, New York is a full two games up on Boston, which lost AGAIN to the friendly neighborhood Orioles, and Seattle.

However, their work is far from complete, because they start a three game series vs Tampa Bay on Friday to close out the season.

Despite already winning the division, the Rays aren’t going to just roll over, so the Yankees better come ready to play.

Yankees vs Rays Odds Today

According to our friends at WynnBET, the Yankees are -130 favorites on the moneyline (bet $130 to win $100), whereas the Rays check in at +110 (bet $100 to win $110). On the run line, the Yanks are +145 to win by two or more runs. The Rays, meanwhile,  are -170 to either win outright or lose by just one run.

The over/under is set at nine runs, with both sides getting -110 odds.

Yankees Pitcher Today

The Yankees will send the ever-reliable Nestor Cortes (2-2, 2.85 ERA) to the mound in this one. There aren’t enough words to describe how immense Cortes has been to New York’s success this season. He might not get a spot in the playoff rotation — if they make it that far, of course — but he’ll be huge piece out of the bullpen.

Yankees Starting Lineup

Lol, so, like…the lineup’s weird.

Yankees vs Rays Prediction Today

The Yankees have a knack for crumbling against the Rays, but nothing seems to faze them right now. The lineup has been dominant. The starting pitching has mostly been excellent. The same can be said for the bullpen, even Aroldis Chapman!

Not to mention, McClanahan has been tagged for seven runs in two starts against the Yankees this season. Since it’s Tampa Bay, this will be a nail-biter, but we’re backing New York to stay hot and all but clinch their Wild Card berth.

Yankees 5, Rays 3.
