Yankees Game Today: Yankees vs Red Sox Lineup, Odds, Prediction, Pick, Pitcher, TV for Sept. 24
The New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox are ready to kick off what amounts to an end-of-regular-season postseason series on Friday night…as long as the weather allows.
Though it recently seemed like the Bombers might not hold up their end of the bargain and maintain a playoff spot entering this series — certainly not after back-to-back defeats at the hands of the Guardians — New York is two back of Boston and one game ahead of Toronto, nestled in the second Wild Card.
Lots of flip-flopping going on these days.
Every game of this series is going to feel like a must-win, as stress levels rise, but if the Yankees can simply take the set, they’ll be in good shape.
Well, solid shape. The Jays are up next on their home turf in Canada. And, again, the rain?
Let’s get into it.
What Time is the Yankees Game Today?
The Yankees and Red Sox play at 7:10 EST at Fenway Park in good ol’ Boston, Mass.
What Channel is the Yankees Game on Today?
Catch Yanks-Sox on WPIX in New York (important!), NESN in Beantown, or nationally on ESPN wherever else you consume meaningful baseball.
Yankees vs Red Sox Odds Today
According to our friends at WynnBET, the…wait, sorry, the New York Yankees are very slight favorites?! The Yanks are -120 on the moneyline (bet $120 to win $100), while the Sox are an even +100 (bet your $100 to take home another hundred).
On the run line, the Sox are -150 favorites to either win or lose by a single run. The Yanks are +130 to cover the -1.5 spread. The over/under in this one is set at 9.5 (usually easy money in Fenway Park, no matter who’s on the mound), with the over at +110 and the under at -130.
Yankees Pitcher Today
It’s Cole (15-8, 3.03 ERA), who’s been battling a hamstring issue lately. His past three starts include a tough game against Toronto, which he left early, a solid performance in Baltimore where he was gassed after five, and one of his roughest outings of the year against Cleveland last weekend.
New York has shifted Cole around so that he’ll be lined up every five days for the remainder of the season, into a tiebreaker or Wild Card Game scenario. Unfortunately, that’ll be messed with on Friday if the rain comes.
For the Sox, it’ll be Nathan Eovaldi (10-8, 3.58 ERA), who has played the Yankees like a fiddle since joining Boston, this year especially (2-1, 2.01 ERA in five starts).
Yankees Starting Lineup
Pretty big game. Might wanna watch.
Yankees vs Red Sox Prediction Today
Ooh…don’t feel good about this…
Several key Yanks delivered time and again during the previous series with the Rangers who need to step up in this one as well (Gary Sanchez, Gleyber Torres). Other key Yanks continued to struggle (DJ LeMahieu).
For the Bombers to take this one, they’ll need some approximation of the best version of Gerrit Cole for five or six innings. With more bullpen depth, from Luis Severino to Michael King to Domingo German, that might just be enough if he can hold serve.
If he falters again, though, this could be over quickly. Sticking with my prediction from the podcast: Yankees lose this one 6-2, but win the next two games.
