The New York Yankees went from turning everything that they touched into gold during their winning streak to losers of seven straight games and 10 of their last 12. All of the goodwill and momentum that they picked up during their winning streak has been completely sandblasted away.

The Yankees thought that taking on the rival New York Mets, fresh off losing some pivotal matchups in a must-win series of their own against Miami, could provide a ramp they could use to get back on the right track. Not only did they lose, but they lost in an embarrassing fashion.

The 10-3 scoreline included some comedic errors, including Gary Sanchez’s inability to tag a runner out coming home. The highlights of the game could be set to the Yakety Sax for how embarrassing they were.

The Yankees will try to recapture their momentum against their rival in an attempt to stay afloat in the crowded AL playoff picture. Time will tell if Aaron Boone finally starts pushing the right buttons.

The over-under is 8.5 runs, with the team from the Bronx at +104 (bet $100 to win $104) to cover that line. The Mets are -130 (bet $130 to win $100) to cover.

Yankees Pitcher Today

New York’s AL team will start Corey Kluber and his 3.69 ERA. While he has some impressive stats, he hasn’t looked as sharp of late considering the fact he is returning from injury. This Mets lineup has plenty of mashers, and they looked good yesterday, but Kluber could still find his groove against this team.

Taijuan Walker was a deserving All-Star after his first-half performance, but he has been in a major slump lately. Luckily, this lineup will watch several 92 MPH fastball right down the middle, so that should help.

Yankees vs Mets Prediction Today

The Yankees aren’t going to get out of their funk with the snap of a finger, as they will need to gradually start piecing wins together. The Mets might be too tough of a team to do that against.

Expect the Yankees to once again let the Mets reel off some big hits while the pitching staff flounders later in the game. Until they can start winning, this has to be the assumption.
