The New York Yankees are rolling.

That feels weird to say, but that’s what happens when you cap a sluggish performance — in a game you have no business winning — with a walk-off win in extra innings.

In one of the true feel good moments of the season, Brett Gardner, who’s struggled all year, singled home the winning run with two outs in the bottom of the 11th. And massive credit to Albert Abreu for working a scoreless 11th to put the Yankees in the driver’s seat.

Let’s hope for more of the same on Saturday afternoon, when the Yans will be looking for their fifth straight win to further close the gap in the AL East.

Yankees vs Mariners Odds Today

According to our friends over at WynnBet, the Yankees are favored -185 on the money line (bet $185 to win 100), while the Mariners are +170 (bet $170 to win 100). The run line, if you can believe it, is even money right now, though New York is favored -1.5 at -100 (bet $110 to win 100), while Seattle is currently sitting at -110 to cover +1.5 (bet $110 to win 100).

As for the over/under, oddsmakers think a barrage of runs will be scored, because it’s set at an even 10.0 right now. Both the over and under are at -110 (bet $110 to win 100).

Yankees Pitcher Today

With Gerrit Cole and Domingo German still shelved on the COVID list, the Yankees are basically forced to send Andrew Heaney (6-8, 5.42 ERA) to the mound.

The Yankees acquired Heaney moments before the trade deadline to bolster their starting rotation, and the veteran lefty looked anything but the part of a quality option in his debut, allowing four runs on six hits over four innings in a loss to the Orioles.

The Mariners will counter with right-hander Chris Flexen (10-5, 3.75 ERA), who has somehow never faced the Yankees. By all accounts, Flexen is enjoying the finest season of his career, compiling a 1.275 WHIP and surrendering just 11 home runs across 20 starts.

Flexen is a contact pitcher — he has just 75 strikeouts in 115.1 innings this year — so the Yanks, as long as they remain disciplined, should get pitches to hit.

Yankees Starting Lineup

Stay tuned! The lineup should drop closer to first pitch.

Yankees vs Mariners Prediction

While the Yankees are churning out wins like nobody’s business, they still have moments that make fans want to pull their hair out. It’s difficult to bet against New York just hours after one of the wins of the year, but we really don’t love the pitching matchup.

Can the Yankees really get lucky for a third game in a row? We’ll know soon enough, but for now we’re backing the Mariners to pull out a 6-4 win on Saturday.
