The New York Yankees will take on the Miami Marlins on Friday night after receiving a jolt from Brian Cashman in the front office.

Should the team have engaged in making wholesale changes prior to late Wednesday? Maybe. But they’re still in the race, and they’ve now gotten two high-impact lefties and excellent clubhouse presences ahead of the deadline.

And more’s coming.

While we wait for the Yankees to add pitching and figure out Luke Voit’s new home (seriously), there’s a game to be played, and it’ll likely feature two all-new destroyers of the baseball right in the middle in the form of Joey Gallo and Anthony Rizzo. Ayy!

So, what’ll it be? Do you have more faith in the new-look Yankees than yesterday’s group that’s on the right track, but still can’t close?

Yankees vs Marlins Odds Today

The Marlins are no joke; until recently, they sported one of the worst records ever for a team with a positive run differential, and their collection of arms is filthy. That said, the Yankees are big favorites over this squad, clocking in at -175 (bet $175 to win $100) on the moneyline. The Marlins are +140 (bet $100 to win $140).

On the run line, the spread is Yankees -1.5 at -105. If you want the Marlins, you can get them at +1.5 and +116 (bet $100 on them to cover and win $116). The O/U is 7.5, and we’d pound the over in this scenario.

Yankees vs Marlins Pitching Matchup

Jameson Taillon takes the mound for the Yankees in Miami riding an impressive hot streak. At one point, the righty was flirting with an AJ Burnett-level disappointment. A red-hot June and July have him sitting at 6-4 with a 4.36 ERA, though; he’s become an impressive and important piece for next year’s Yankees in the process.

The Marlins are sending Zach Thompson to the mound, one of their lesser-known options but someone who’s still ripping it this year (2-3, 2.45).

Yankees vs Marlins Prediction Today

The Yankees are going to get a jolt both in the clubhouse and on the field on Friday, and their bullpen is (gasp) actually rested after Gerrit Cole was shellacked at the Trop on Thursday. We’re still not terribly optimistic. Everyone’s going to need time to gel. But we are going to predict a bomb from one of the two new additions, as well as a 6-4 win.
