Yankees Game Today: Yankees vs Red Sox Odds, Starting Lineup, Pitching Matchup, Predictions, Schedule, Live Stream and TV Channel
The New York Yankees have won four straight series (and games!) and are 9-3 in their last 12 contests. They’ve answered the call for the time being. They need to take that momentum and put it to good use for once as they head up to Boston for a four-game set against the Red Sox at Fenway Park.
Heading into last Saturday, the Bombers were getting certifiably punked by their most hated division rivals. They were 0-7 and being out-scored 40-17 in the season series. Disgusting. Make it stop, please.
Thankfully, the Yankees did make it stop. They’ve won their last two against the Sox, out-scoring them 12-2 in the process. Nothing groundbreaking, but we’ll take it.
Now, at 50-44 and the trade deadline fast approaching, the Yankees need to make up ground in the AL East as they sit seven back of Boston. This four-game series is the perfect opportunity to do so. We know they won’t sweep, but maybe three out of four? They have some favorable pitching matchups.
The Yankees will once again bring a skeleton crew — one that’s 4-1 in their last five games, though! — to Fenway Park on Thursday as they hopefully look to set the tone.
It won’t be easy, though. The Sox just got finished bludgeoning the Toronto Blue Jays, going 2-0 in Buffalo and scoring 20 runs in those contests. Let’s see how things shape up heading into tonight.
What Channel is the Yankees Game on Today?
Thursday’s series opener will be broadcast on the YES Network for those in the New York/Tri-State area and NESN for those in New England. Unlike last week, tonight’s contest shouldn’t get postponed.
Yankees vs Red Sox Odds Today
The Red Sox are the favorite (boooo!!!) and currently sit at -140 on the moneyline (bet $140 to win $100). Want some value on the Bombers? They’re +115 on the moneyline (bet $100 to win $115). Those bets are fulfilled if one team outright wins the game.
If you want to get fancy, there’s the run line. It’s not the best bet, but some prefer the value and/or like to use it in parlays. The Sox are -1.5 runs at +140 (bet $100 to win $140) while the Yanks are +1.5 runs at -175 (bet $175 to win $100).
The over/under, if you like judging games based on how many runs you believe will be scored, is currently 9.5, with the over at -115 (bet $115 to win $100) and the under at -105 (bet $105 to win $100).
Yankees vs Red Sox Pitching Matchup
Now, for the good stuff! Tonight will feature Jordan Montgomery (3-5, 418 ERA and 1.20 WHIP) taking the bump for the Yankees vs Red Sox young right-hander Tanner Houck (0-2, 3.38 ERA and 1.28 WHIP).
Monty has largely been good over his last five outings, but hasn’t gotten a SINGLE run of support from the Yankees’ offense. If you think that trend will continue, we suggest betting the Sox. As for Houck, he notched a three-inning save against New York last Friday to seal a 4-0 victory. He’s only made two starts on the year, though, and last week was his first outing since April 18.
This is a tough one to gauge, no doubt.
Yankees Starting Lineup
Stay tuned! The lineup should drop soon.
Yankees vs Red Sox Prediction Today
The Yankees are scratching and clawing their way to victories as of late, so we love the energy they’re playing with. The Sox are the Sox. Great offense. A lot of resilience. Well managed. We know what to expect.
However, if you believe in “due theory,” that means Monty will get some run support on Thursday after this last month of bad luck. And if we’re being honest, Thursday and Friday are the Yankees’ best chances to win based on the pitching matchups. Gerrit Cole will take on Eduardo Rodriguez on Friday night. Then it’s Jameson Taillon vs Nathan Eovaldi and Domingo German vs Martin Perez.
Get the job done tonight and breathe a sigh of relief for the remainder of the weekend. Yankees win, 5-4.
