Trevor Rosenthal’s tweet from Tuesday night intrigued Yankees fans.

With all eyes on DJ LeMahieu, New York Yankees fans can’t forget there are a lot of other needs for this team. We won’t depress you and go through all of them, but the bullpen should be among the paramount concerns due to the departures of Jonathan Holder and Tommy Kahnle as well as the regression of Adam Ottavino.

The good news is that there are a lot of options available in free agency and most can likely be had at a reasonable price. The big fish figure to be Liam Hendriks and Brad Hand, but the Yankees may not have to shoot for the stars since they already have Aroldis Chapman and Zack Britton anchoring the bullpen.

One option? Trevor Rosenthal. The former St. Louis Cardinal and most recently San Diego Padre tweeted on Tuesday night and got the attention of Yankees fans. What’s this about?!

Is Rosenthal meeting with the Yankees and wondering if he should be fully shaved when speaking with general manager Brian Cashman? It’s possible! And it makes sense because the right-hander is a perfect fit.

New York needs a bridge guy in the bullpen and Rosenthal’s rebound 2020 campaign put him in a tremendous position to join the Chad Green-Britton-Chapman trio and take over sixth- or seventh-inning duties. The 30-year-old maintained a 1.90 ERA and 0.85 WHIP with 11 saves and 38 strikeouts in 23 games (23.2 innings) with the Royals and Pads.

Also, don’t forget the Yankees signed him to a minor-league deal back in August of 2019! If they were interested in him after he logged a ghastly 13.50 ERA in 22 games that year, why in the world would their stance change after his impressive short stint in 2020?

We’re not sure why Rosenthal is asking Twitter this question, though, because he cut his hair and shaved for the Padres (as evidenced by his profile picture). Maybe he’s just trying to stoke the free agency fire because everything continues to be relatively quiet.

Maybe he’s worried about a little scruff or a five o’clock shadow? Better to be safe than sorry, Trev! Bust out that razor and shaving cream, and make sure to get some product in that hair.
