Yankees starter Domingo German let Marcus Stroman hear it on social media.

On Wednesday, soon-to-be free agent starting pitcher Marcus Stroman took aim at the New York Yankees rotation, claiming that they have nobody behind Gerrit Cole and Luis Severino and that the unit “folds” in the end. Some harsh words! Then he said he’d be open to playing in the Bronx because they need the help.

Admittedly, the Yankees do have some pitching problems, but it seems Stroman isn’t looking at the bigger picture. He must’ve forgotten Deivi Garcia is on the rise and figures to be a fixture for the long haul. Jordan Montgomery, though not always reliable, put forth a gutsy postseason performance in ALDS Game 4.

And he really forgot about Domingo German, who hasn’t pitched since Sept. of 2019 but is expected to return in 2021. The right-hander had an NSFW response to Stroman’s criticism on Instagram.

You might have to head over to a slang translation page if you’d like to know more about the word “coño” … we’ll just leave it at that.

It’s clear German is itching to get back on the mound after his domestic violence suspension, especially since the Yankees needed the pitching help in a season where they lost Severino and James Paxton. German is far from an ace, but he’s won big games for the Bombers and certainly provides formidable depth in the back end of the rotation.

On the other hand, it’s not like Stroman was completely wrong in his analysis, but he’s famously the “good vibes dude,” so it’s a bit confusing as to why he’d take aim at the Yankees in an unprovoked manner … especially when he’s won absolutely nothing. He has a 3.76 ERA for his career in the regular season and a 4.40 ERA in the playoffs. Yankee fans would argue that’d hardly move the needle for this team, which is all Brian Cashman said at the 2019 deadline, in so many words! No disrespect.

If Stroman wanted to be a Yankee, he’s certainly not helping his case with this. General manager Brian Cashman doesn’t typically make a push to sign guys with big personalities who openly talk trash and spend a lot of time on social media. This has nothing to do with confidence vs cockiness. It’s unwarranted criticism in an offseason where you’re trying to earn yourself a big payday.

German hasn’t helped himself out either with his social media activity, but this was his best work yet.
