Former Yankees pitcher CC Sabathia ripped Astros slugger Carlos Correa for his message to the haters.

Don’t you wish the New York Yankees had this energy still? The Bombers, while intimidating as they’ve arguably ever been, don’t exactly sport that cocky, fearlessness moxie that CC Sabathia embodied during his tenure with the team. Perhaps someone’s working on that right now. We’ll have to wait and see.

But as we approach the ALDS against the hated Tampa Bay Rays and share the same field with the Houston Astros for at least the next round of the playoffs, we think it’s a good time to remember that it’s Yankees vs. Everyone as New York looks to get back to the World Series.

So Sabathia’s epic NSFW rant calling out Carlos Correa for his smug comments after the Houston Astros defeated the Minnesota Twins in the AL Wild Card Series is exactly the kind of content we need right now. Here’s what he had to say on the R2C2 podcast:

"“They cheated and then they’re mad at us. Like get the f— out of here,” Sabathia said. “It’s a f—ing joke. And then you finish under .500 this year. Like, shut the f— up … The kid’s a clown, I’m sorry.”"

Sabathia telling it like it is. What else is new? Just about everyone was enraged with what Correa had to say, but nobody was as candid and explicitly eloquent as Sabathia was. And it’s not like CC’s just some pundit like Colin Cowherd spewing takes and criticism behind a microphone because that’s his job. He’s a recently retired player who battled Correa in two of the last three postseasons!

“Clown” couldn’t have been a better word to describe Correa here. The Astros, who finished 2020 with a 29-31 record, are puffing their chests because they “went on the road” to a fan-less Target Field and beat the most inept playoff team in sports right now. The Twins’ 18-game postseason losing streak is the longest in any of the major American sports leagues. This is the “victory” you’re going to gloat about?

Let’s see if he’s talking like that by the end of next week.
