Yankees fans will love Aaron Boone’s latest comments on the playing time Clint Frazier will receive moving forward.

After a lifeless five-game losing streak that saw them come dangerously close to falling out of the playoff picture, the New York Yankees have responded by taking their next four, which has brought them to within 0.5 games of Toronto for second place in the AL East.

The current stretch has also helped the Yankees establish some needed breathing room between the teams chasing them for the final two playoff berths in the AL. It goes without saying the vibes surrounding New York are extremely positive right now, and that was only amplified when the club revealed that they’re hoping injured sluggers Aaron Judge (calf) and Giancarlo Stanton (hamstring) will return to the lineup next weekend.

Their potential returns will only create more of a logjam, both in the outfield and at designated hitter. More specifically, there will be a ton of question marks surrounding how (and if) Clint Frazier will continue to feature as an everyday starter.

Well, manager Aaron Boone cleared that up for concerned fans on Sunday, noting that Frazier has “earned his way into our lineup on a regular basis.”

You absolutely love to hear it!

Frazier hasn’t necessarily been spectacular, as he’s hitting .270/.383/.517 with 5 home runs and 19 RBI. However, those numbers have been invaluable in an otherwise struggling lineup. The 26-year-old has come up with some huge hits in high pressure situations, and his defense has taken notable strides compared to years past.

Therefore, it’s not the least bit surprising that Boone is seemingly fully prepared to deploy him in left field to make room for Judge in right. The likes of Brett Gardner and Mike Tauchman, as reliable as they’ve been on defense, haven’t offered much of anything on offense this season.

In the simplest of terms, the Yankees are a better team with Frazier in the lineup. You have to think he’ll get more pitches to hit once Judge and Stanton return, so we could the former No. 5 overall pick really take off during the closing stretch of the regular season.

It was a long time coming, but Boone and Co. are finally coming to terms with what Frazier brings to the table as an everyday player.

This could be huge for 2020 and beyond.
