Yankees GM Brian Cashman just spoke to reporters and revealed a ton of information about what’s going on.
Yankees fans, we have A LOT to unpack here. We know nobody’s in the right mental state to digest countless updates and pertinent information, but you’re going to want to hear a lot of this.
The seven-game losing streak is nothing to forget about, but we’ve got some good news coming out of New York on Saturday as the Yanks gear up for their third game of the weekend against the Mets.
For starters, DJ LeMahieu has been activated off the injured list and will start at third base on Saturday.

A gift from the baseball gods. Maybe LeMahieu’s presence in the lineup will help get the struggling offense back on track, which has largely held the Yankees back over the last 12 days.
As for the pitching staff … guys … we could see CLARKE SCHMIDT on Sunday! Deivi Garcia could join him as well assuming the Yankees need pitching reinforcements for tomorrow’s doubleheader.
"We are ready with an action plan that definitely one of those players are a part of for tomorrow"

Let’s hope Saturday’s game doesn’t get rained out and affect these plans.
Speaking of pitching, Cashman also revealed his main focus at the trade deadline is just that. The Bombers need help especially in the starting rotation, but the team will also be looking at relievers leading up to Monday’s 4 p.m. cutoff.
Brian Cashman said "pitching, clearly" is the Yankees' focus going into the trade deadline.

Perhaps the Yankees can get their hands on one of these stud relievers or one of these stars and bounce back fast because time is running out. They need to get back on track to reclaim the division from the Rays.
Now, for the disappointing news. You knew it was coming! We all know Aaron Judge is back on the injured list and it could take two stints for him to return to the field, and now we officially know the cause. He re-strained the muscle in his calf that he initially injured during the series in Tampa Bay a few weeks ago.

Upsetting all around. Judge claimed he was 100% and didn’t even need to go on the IL, and then he returned when he was eligible and couldn’t even make it through a seven-inning game against the Braves.
On an even more disheartening note, the organization continues to coddle Gary Sanchez, who cannot generate any sort of production at the plate. El Gary is batting .130 in 2020 and owns a .204 average since the start of 2018. But yeah, let’s keep putting him in the cleanup spot!
“We are going with Gary Sanchez. He is by far our best option on both sides of the ball.” - Brian Cashman

While Sanchez has improved defensively, which he’s been commended for, he’s still not at point where fans are comfortable, and to say he’s “by far” the team’s best option on offense and defense is a little bit of a reach. Some would argue Kyle Higashioka could give him a run for his money in all aspects aside from the power department.
Also, it seems karma has really hit the organization.
The Yankees are 0-7 since implementing massive layoffs and furloughs throughout the organization.

That is like losing 19 consecutive games in a 162-game season.
We’re not being dramatic, but winning out the rest of the weekend almost feels like a must. If today’s game is played and they can’t get the job done, their backs will be fully up against the wall heading into Sunday’s doubleheader, and that’s not where this team can afford to be at the moment.

Yankees: Aroldis Chapman not realizing game was over after walk-off shows NYY are lost
New York Yankees Aroldis Chapman apparently had no idea the game was over after he surrendered a two-run homer to Amed Rosario.
