The Yankees have a 5-0 lead thanks to Luke Voit’s grand slam.

Remember New York Yankees fans were worried about Luke Voit after the first four games of the season? Well, that’s all fixed.

The Bombers absolutely abused the Baltimore Orioles and starter John Means in the first inning of Thursday night’s game at Camden Yards and Voit provided the exclamation point with the first grand slam of his career.

He was so pumped you can hear him yelling “Get Out! Get Out!” when he was running to first.

It’s 5-0 Yankees just like that. And rest in peace John Means’ ERA. This is his first start of the season.

Voit has two hits on the year and both are home runs. The first came on Sunday in the seventh inning against the Washington Nationals to tie the game, which helped New York take the series in DC after Gleyber Torres’ go-ahead RBI single in the eighth.

With a much easier task at hand playing the Orioles, Voit should be able to get back on track and put any chatter about his offense to rest. While Mike Ford got the start last night and went 1-for-3 with an RBI, Voit isn’t relinquishing any more playing time by coming through like this.

The Bombers have been thrown off by what’s happened to kick off the 2020 season. They got rained out (though in a win) on Opening Night, then had their four-game set against the Phillies postponed due to the Marlins’ coronavirus outbreak, and audibled this week to make the trip down to Baltimore to play the O’s, who were supposed to play Miami.

Not an issue, though! New York already has 14 runs in the first 10 innings of this series and something tells us they’ll be ready to mash against the Boston Red Sox this weekend in the Bronx.
