Yankees: Donald Trump Reportedly Lied About Throwing Out First Pitch on Aug. 15

Donald Trump claimed he was set to throw out the first pitch before the Yankees game at Yankee Stadium on Aug. 15.

You can’t make this stuff up, which seems even crazier when you actually attempt to comprehend what you’re reading, Yankees fans.

Last week, after the Washington Nationals invited Dr. Anthony Fauci to throw out the first pitch on Opening Night before taking on the New York Yankees, President Donald Trump did his best to deflect attention away from that and claimed he was set to throw out the first pitch himself (you’re damn right!) at Yankee Stadium on Aug. 15.

Then Trump canceled not too long after making the announcement, citing that he was too busy dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic (on the golf course??) and would try to make it at a later day.

The only problem? The Yankees reportedly never invited him to do so. Trump’s announcement took the Yankees and White House by surprise.

Even Yankees outfielder Giancarlo Stanton didn’t believe the president, stating, “I’m not positive that that’s a for-sure thing happening. But, at the same time, we’ll get there when we get there. That’s in August. It’s not something I need to worry about now.”

According to a report, Trump previously had a standing offer from Yankees president Randy Levine (surprise) to throw out the ceremonial first pitch before a game at the Stadium.

What a year for Trump to cash in on that (maybe fake) offer considering there are no fans in the stands. Back in 2017, he declined to throw out the first pitch at Nationals Park on Opening Day, spurning somewhat of a presidential tradition, and that decision lined up with an atrocious approval rating.

Then, he was mercilessly booed by the DC home crowd during the Nats’ playoff run in 2019.

And we got the haters out here saying Stanton is the one benefitting from no fans in the stands?

The timing couldn’t be more on point in reflecting the president’s viewpoints, either, considering this came after Aaron Hicks and Stanton took a knee during the National Anthem on the 25th.

Trump has been a busy man, after all. He’s getting interviewed by Barstool’s Dave Portnoy and retweeting random unverified accounts on Twitter in an attempt to save his approval rating and score as many votes as possible before the November election.

We’re sure he’ll have more time when the debates roll around … or if he’s not reelected.
