Check out Yankees fourth-round draft pick Beck Way’s highlights.

The decision of MLB to trim the 2020 Draft to five rounds in light of the coronavirus crisis was a tough pill to swallow for the Yankees, who previously forfeited their second- and fifth-rounders to sign Gerrit Cole this offseason.

Because New York had fewer than five picks to work with, the club likely felt that it needed to select players with high upside. It goes without saying that the Yanks did just that with fourth-round selection Beck Way, and on Tuesday, he officially became part of the organization when he signed a contract worth up to $600,000.

To celebrate the big news, it’s only fitting that fans in the Bronx take a look at the former LSU commit’s highlight montage. Just for reference, Beck attended Northwest Florida State JC before committing to transfer to LSU.

As you can see, Way is already hitting 96 MPH on the radar gun, which is considerable when you realize how much room he has to grow. If there’s one thing to take away from this clip, it’s that the the Cumberland Valley grad throws gas. Not only that, but he’s got a slider and changeup with plenty of potential.

Scouts feel he’s athletic enough (he stands at 6-foot-6, 200 pounds too) to ensure he improves his control and delivery.

Inking his first professional contract was obviously a huge moment for Way, and he took to Twitter to share it with his followers.

In normal circumstances, the 20-year-old hurler would report to one of the Yankees minor league affiliates. However, with the MiLB season cancelled due to COVID-19, he’ll have to wait a few more months to get his professional career underway. In the meantime, fans should have no problem browsing more of his highlights on YouTube.
