Tommy Kahnle is the power relief pitcher that every MLB teams and the New York Yankees are lucky that he is a part of their bullpen.
Tommy Kahnle is another piece to the New York Yankees bullpen and another reason why they are atop the MLB. His fastball and changeup make him a nightmare for opposing hitters.
The Yankees acquired him in 2017 from the Chicago White Sox to help bolster their bullpen for a deep postseason run. He burnt out, though, as soon as the ALCS came because the bullpen was overworked.
In 2018, he battled some injuries, so his season was cut short. After a disappointing 2018 season, Kahnle came back in 2019 and was ready to play.
Kahnle made 72 appearances last season for the New York Yankees. He had a 3-2 record, a 3.67 ERA, in 61 innings of work. Kahnle gave up 45 hits, 25 earned runs, nine home runs, 20 walks and 88 strikeouts. 2019 was a perfect bounce-back season for Kahnle.
With the 2020 season starting(hopefully), Kahnle should have another good season. The bullpen, along with Kahnle, are going to be fully rested and rested because the starting rotation is prepared to pitch deep into games. They should not be overworked when the postseason comes along.
I like Kahnle, and I think he is an essential piece to the Yankees’ bullpen. His numbers speak for themselves. I am expecting him to have an even better 2020.
