Former Yankee David Wells just finished watching ‘The Last Dance’ and loved it.

Just about every sports fan in America was enthralled with “The Last Dance” considering it aired on ESPN while people across the country were glued to their couches during various stay-at-home orders. The 10-part documentary series chronicled Michael Jordan and the 1997-98 Chicago Bulls on the final run of their second three-peat.

New York Yankees legend David Wells is a bit familiar with winning championships, having captured the 1998 World Series with the Bronx Bombers, which kicked off the franchise’s own three-peat quest that came to fruition in 2000.

Wells just finished watching “The Last Dance” and decided to give everyone a throwback with him and the GOAT to relive the glory days.

Both of those men were champions in 1998, so it’s fitting they captured this picture 20-something years ago with a couple of stogies. The Yankees and Bulls pretty much ran the ’90s, and this snapshot could very well define the decade in a sense. Additionally, this photo features MJ posed with potentially the athlete least likely to notice whether a late-night pizza was poisoned or not. Sorry, MJ. You need to have a Wells-esque stomach of steel to withstand threats like that.

Wells also had some fun responding to fans on Twitter in regards to the photo. Some loved it, some called him out for it (we’re not sure why), and some had jokes that gave everybody a laugh.

Wells responded that he’d win the party-off between him and MJ. Of course. We wouldn’t bet against him.

While the 1998 ALCS MVP doesn’t have nearly as many rings as Jordan, his best individual season came in the same year the Bulls won their final NBA title before disbanding. What an unlikely coincidence that makes this picture even more awesome.
