Yankees Quarantine Reading List

The amount of Yankees related reading material is almost endless. This is great news for Yankees faithful, especially as fans will continue to be social distancing for the near future.

The reading list could be a story on its own, but here are a few books that I have recently read.

Mission 27: A New Boss, A New Ballpark, and One Last Ring for the Yankees’ Core Four – Mark Feinsand, Bryan Hoch

A look into the Yankees last World Series Championship team. Featuring interviews with players, executives and members of the media, Mission 27 is a fun look at the last great Yankees team and the last title of the beloved “Core Four”.

Luckiest Man: The Life and Death of Lou Gehrig – Jonathan Eig

Perhaps a good read alongside a Pride of the Yankees viewing, Eig does a phenomenal job breaking down Gehrig’s life on and off the field. The book features letters that Gehrig received and sent through his life.

Inside the Empire: The True Power Behind the New York Yankees – Bob Klapisch, Paul Solotaroff

Inside the Empire is a behind the scenes look into how the most storied franchise in sports operates. From the minor leagues all the way up to the high-profile moves like the Giancarlo Stanton trade, this book provides what really is behind Major League Baseball’s Evil Empire as the  2018 season moves along in the background.

The Last Boy: Mickey Mantle and the End of America’s Childhood – Jane Leavy

Jane Leavy explores the life of Mantle, the hero for an entire generation of Yankees fans. It discusses his prolific feats on the diamond and the problems he faced off of it. It covers Mantle’s entire life, from his childhood in Oklahoma to his death in 1995.
