While the Yankees are expected to pursue Gerrit Cole and Stephen Strasburg this offseason, the Bombers will be looking to improve upon their ALCS, regardless. The Yanks still have a solid core but do have some holes that will need to be filled.

The Yankees fell in heartbreaking fashion to the Astros in six games in the ALCS. Many say that the pitching is to blame, whereas the lack of hitting was equally unimpressive when the chips were down. In all reality, it was a combination of both, and the overexposure of the bullpen certainly didn’t help.

While the free-agent market is filled with several top names, there are also lesser expensive names that will be left on the backburner.

These are five under-the-radar players that the Yankees might want to consider signing in case they cannot ink a top-tier free agent.
