The Yankees began the second half of the 2019 season with a 4-0 win over the Blue Jays — and with it, Didi Gregorius resumed his humorous and thoughtful postgame emoji-filled tweets.

On the back of six shutout innings, allowing only three hits and striking out seven, Domingo German buoyed the Yankees to a 4-0 victory over Toronto.

Slumping slugger Edwin Encarnacion broke out in a big way, going 2-for-4 with three RBIs and hopefully set himself up for a solid second half to the 2019 season.

Following the victory, which moved the Yanks to 58-31 (.652 winning percentage) and 6.5 games ahead of the second place Rays, Yankees shortstop Didi Gregorius brought back his enjoyable emoji-filled tweets.

With #startspreadingthenews, Didi used an ant to describe German (perhaps because he was working like one?), a parrot because when Encarnacion hits a home run he traditionally rounds the bases with an imaginary bird perched on his right shoulder, and a piece of broccoli for Chad Green, who gave up just one hit while striking out three across the final two frames of the contest.

Recovering from offseason Tommy John surgery, it was only on June 7 that Gregorius made his return to the 25-man roster.

Since then, Sir Didi has managed to come up in a few big spots but has still yet to find his groove.

In 98 plate appearances (23 games) Gregorius is slashing .263/.286/.411 with 14 runs scored, two doubles, four homers, nine RBIs and an 18:3 K:BB ratio.

As Didi continues to work off the rust, there’s little doubt he’ll round into shape as the stretch run progresses.

Following the Yanks win on Friday night in the Bronx, the New York Post questioned Gregorius as to why he chose now to relaunch his beloved social media exercise and not initially upon his return from the IL.

"“There was no secret. I wasn’t playing for the start of the first half. I didn’t want to make it about me.”"

Let’s hope Didi is prepared to keep spreading the news, as the Yankees look plenty ready to continue racking up wins.
