The New York Yankees Wild Card win against the Oakland Athletics will forever be remembered as the greatest game I’ve ever attended. Never have I witnessed a more electrifying crowd than I did on October 3, 2018.

Start spreading the news: The Yankees are moving onto the ALDS! After a dominating 7-2 win against the Oakland Athletics, the Yanks booked a playoff series date with the Boson Red Sox for the first time since 2004.

The Wednesday night crowd chanted “We want Boston!” when it became apparent the Bronx Bombers were moving on. To be a part of that electrifying crowd, was indeed a spectacle.

From first pitch to the final out, I was on my feet. My section, 202, had to be the rowdiest of the bunch. We were yelling at the top of our lungs, exchanging thunderous high fives, tossing food and drinks all over the place after every run or strikeout. One fan got ketchup splattered all over his jersey, but he didn’t even care.

We were numb to our appearance, and all had one goal in mind: to be the loudest and wildest of the bunch because maybe it would help the Yankees win.

Yankee Stadium was filled with a pumped crowd that especially exploded after Aaron Judge‘s early two-run home run. As soon as Judge made solid contact, the stadium erupted.

Let’s not forget Luke Voit‘s clutch two-run triple, Luis Severino‘s impactful arm, Dellin Betances shutting down a rally and Giancarlo Stanton‘s moon shot to the left field bleachers. All of these highlights will forever be linked as memories in my brain that I can never forget.

“We want Boston”

The fans are ready, the players are charged up, and the sports world can’t wait for the Red Sox vs. Yankees renewed rivalry — one that will add another chapter beginning on Friday night. Based on the energy of the Yankees home crowd on Wednesday, I would be nervous if I was Boston.

The Yankees looked utterly in sync during the Wild Card game. If Boston plays in Yankee Stadium after losing one of their first two home games in the series, they may not make it back to Fenway. The Yankees have the most dangerous weapon in the game when they are the home team — the tenth player on the field — the home crowd.

Next. Yankees and their fans want the Sox. dark

So we’re ready for you, Boston. We’re prepared to write the next chapter. Will you prove you are the best team in baseball, like your win-loss record shows — or will you choke under pressure from a fired-up squad that survived their win-or-go-home game on Wednesday night?

I’m curious, since this was the greatest game I’ve ever attended, what is yours?
