Imagine writing an article with no title or subject in mind. That’s where I’m at with the 2018 Yankees. There are so many things that are mind-boggling, especially the potential of this club. Please bear with me for a moment.

As a writer and a very new one at that, I’ve tried to follow news about the Yankees news and subsequently written about it. I was given the opportunity to write for ‘YGY’ in November. Wow, I danced around the house when I was accepted.

So that being said, this Yankee team is special as was my opportunity. ‘YGY’ gave me a chance, so did the 2017 Yankees to write about it all with Didi, Sanchez, and Judge setting records, and Gardy having a career-best season. Add in the contributions of so many others, and it’s a new writer’s dream come true.

The pitching was also exceptional, collectively finishing with the third best ERA in the AL. As for the bullpen, it was lights-out after some adjustments were made and a deadline trade brought home David Robertson and added hard-throwing right-hander Tommy Kahnle.

Luis Severino shined as the self-appointed ace and finished third in Cy Young balloting. Thanks for the topic for yet another article, young man. No creative thought required there.

The offseason brought challenges, both to myself and Brian Cashman. For me to be creative with topics that hadn’t been written about a jillion times before — for Cashman to fill out a World Series caliber roster and still stay under the $197 million luxury tax threshold.

Cashman was more successful than I. He shined.  I struggled.

Now to the newly acquired guy. Like me, the new “man” on the block.

The pickup of reigning NL MVP Giancarlo Stanton, who I wrote an article AGAINST picking up prior to his acquisition.

More from Yankees News

I wasn’t aware at the time of my ill-advised piece that the genius Cashman, would be able to work a deal that wouldn’t deplete the stacked Yankees’ farm system. AND not to mention, pay back $30 million to the Yanks to bring the NL MVP to the Bronx.

I saw another deal resembling Alex Rodriguez or Jacoby Ellsbury. I forgot how Brian Cashman had dominated his trades in the past few years by potentially building a new dynasty in New York. And all this while maintaining the goal of remaining under the luxury tax threshold, being the seventh-highest payroll to date in MLB. That’s in the largest market, mind you.

Lesson learned. Remember always, Shell, await what magic Brian makes before you open your mouth. Or your phone to write an article about it.

As a new writer, I can’t wait to see what this lineup puts out. To witness and write about possible history.

Now with the acquisitions of Brandon Drury and Neil Walker. Manager Aaron Boone’s lineup is now complete, and Cashman still has wiggle-room under the threshold for a July 31 trade deadline move. Oh, and there’s a packed farm system to enable him to do so.

This lineup as we all know is made of what new or established writers and fans alike dream about.

To see Aaron Judge backed up by Giancarlo Stanton and Gary Sanchez is a nightmare to the opposition. As the newly acquired Stanton recently said, he feels sorry for the baseballs.

I do too. Those balls are in for a beating by this team. Remember what El Gary did to one very early in Spring Training? He knocked the cover right off of a baseball!

Next: Yanks should buyout Judge's arbitration years

I can’t wait to see it. And I can’t wait to share it with you. This new writer will be able to devise topics and titles this season, no problem. Well as my editor knows, maybe not titles. The 2018 Yankees will make sure of that. Stay tuned for something extraordinary.
