- At last season’s trade deadline, Brian Cashman brought in a struggling Todd Frazier from the White Sox. However, Frazier brought an energy to New York that couldn’t be matched around the league by anyone. Despite only hitting .213 last season, Frazier is a very tough out in the box, a very versatile defender and a role model for young players to follow. He can flat-out contribute regardless of the position he plays. Frazier would be a salient utility player and platoon at third base, first base, and designated hitter at a lower cost than Moustakas. We witnessed a special chemistry between the Yankees last year which was spearheaded by Fraizer, and it would be smart to bring him back to reunite the electric energy in the Yankees’ clubhouse.
The likelihood of the Yankees landing two of these five players seems slim-to-none. However, Jacoby Ellsbury is the fifth outfielder for the Yankees, potentially sixth behind Clint Frazier.
Ellsbury holds one of the largest contracts on the Yankees now along with a no-trade clause. In order for the Yankees to be able to pursue two big contracts, they would need to find a landing spot for Ellsbury who is reportedly being very difficult about waiving his no-trade clause which leads to the speculation he’s not going anywhere.
Next: Fulmer and Corbin rumors are true
Reports are surfacing this morning that the #Yankees are willing to pay half of the $68M owed to Ellsbury to clear payroll and a roster spot. The biggest obstacle in their way is Ellsbury's no trade clause which he apparently doesn't want to wave because he wants to stay in NY.

This will most likely result in the Yanks and Brian Cashman settling for one big signing this offseason, but also potentially a big trade if Ellsbury agrees.
