Former Yankees Executive Auctioning Off Championship Rings
Felix Lopez, the one-time husband to part-owner of the Yankees, Jessica Steinbrenner is reportedly auctioning off six World Series rings and multiple League Championship rings.
Ever dreamt of wearing an authentic New York Yankees championship ring? Well, this could be your chance as Felix Lopez’s collection of historic rings goes up for bidding this Friday through the auction house, Hess Fine Art.
If you haven’t heard of Lopez, he was a senior vice president of the Yankees from 2005-2009. Lopez later transitioned to the executive vice president role, which he held up until this past year.
While these job titles may sound impressive on paper, it appears his main duties consisted of overseeing the daily operations of the organizations Spring Training and Minor League facilities in Tampa, Florida.

In a press release, sent out by Jeffrey P. Hess of Hess Fine Auctions, Hess referred to Lopez as a driving force in baseball for the past 10 years.
That seems a little brazen considering the amount of scrutiny Lopez found himself at the center of in 2013 while holding the office of chief international officer. While in the Dominican Republic, Lopez took part in a press conference announcing a privately funded $50M baseball stadium to be built on the island.
Problem is that according to reports at the time, no one within the Yankees had any knowledge that Lopez was involved in the project. So either Lopez asserted himself into a new job, or the Yankees simply can’t keep track of their employees. Regardless, Lopez was soon moved into yet another job designation — this time as an overseer of the Yankees’ Latin Baseball Academy as well as player development in Latin America.

It truly does seem like the Steinbrenner boys did everything they possibly could to keep their sister’s husband as far away from New York as they possibly could. In the end, Steinbrenner filed for divorce from Lopez this past July, seeking a protective order just last week.
