The New York Yankees have reportedly called up infielder Rob Refsnyder and LHP James Pazos to the majors.

Reports came via Josh Norris of Baseball America this afternoon that the Yankees have called up both Rob Refsnyder and James Pazos:

Refsnyder, 25, has been playing great baseball all-around this season for the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders with a stat line of .293/.336/.398 with two home-runs and 10 RBI.  He has added six stolen bases and defensively has been on point, sporting a .981 fielding percentage at second.

In limited time in the bigs (16 games in 2015), Refsnyder went .302/.348/.512 and added two home-runs, five RBI, and two stolen bases.  Refsnyder is on a tear of late, raising his batting average from .265 to .293 with multi-hit games and hits in nine of his last 10.

In the first game of their seven-game west coast road trip, the Yankees’ offense struggled to string hits and score runs, losing 12-2 to the Diamondbacks.  Refsnyder should provide the Yankees with some much needed offensive production and utility depth.  The Yankees should consider keeping Refsnyder in New York throughout and beyond their current road trip.

Pazos, 25, is 2-1 on the season, appearing in 12 games in 15.1 innings of relief.  Pazos is sporting a 2.35 ERA with 17 strikeouts in Scranton.  In 2015, Pazos pitched just five innings in the Bronx.  He allowed three hits, three walks, and struck out three batters.

Pazos hasn’t pitched since May 13, so he will be well-rested and allow the Yankees to add another left-handed pitcher to the bullpen.  The way New York’s starting pitching has been going, bullpen depth is never a bad option.

With reports of the call ups, there have not been any additional roster reports on making room for Refsnyder and Pazos.  The club has not not confirmed either move.
