The New York Yankees 8-15 start to the season has thrown their entire fan base into a frenzy

Some fans are calling for skipper Joe Girardi to be fired, others are insisting that Jacoby Ellsbury be traded and some are just about ready to close the curtain on the 2016 Yankees season.

The fact of the matter is the New York Yankees need a spark, and they need it now. If they can’t manage to turn things around Yankees General Manager Brian Cashman told Ken Davidoff of The New York Post that he won’t hesitate to make changers if his team doesn’t step up and start performing.

"“In the event things don’t turn, I’m going to have to make it turn and be forced to do things that weren’t part of the game plan, whatever that would be."

The Yankees offense currently ranks 23rd in the major leagues in batting average (.234), 29th in hits (179) and 25th in OPS (.669). Individually, some Yankees players are doing their best to stop the bleeding, including Starlin Castro (.314/.352/.500), Brian McCann (.262/.360/.415) and Brett Gardner (.243/.364/.351), but collectively the Yankees just can’t seem to click.

Despite the teams overall struggles, one players lack of contribution makes him stick out like a sore thumb.

Chase Headley and his .156 batting average and .453 OPS is by the far the worst of any regular position player on the New York Yankees. In 62 plate-appearances, the 10-year veteran has just two RBI with 0 extra base-hits.

"“Chase has struggled.” Cashman told Ken Davidoff. “He has struggled significantly. It’s more because he’s struggling rather than anything else. He’s getting his walks, and thank God for that because it would be worse (without them). He has not been able to impact the baseball like he’s capable of. We have problems all over, but … he’s definitely someone you can point to and say we have to figure it out. He’s struggling the most.”"

For now it doesn’t look Brian Cashman will make any drastic changes, but it looks like Aaron Hicks and his .077 batting average over 28-plate appearances will be given more of an opportunity to prove himself.

When asked whether outfield prospect Aaron Judge could be called up in an attempt to kick-start the Yankees offense, Cashman said:

"“You look to Hicks before you look to Judge. … Judge and everybody down at Triple-A, they’re down there for a reason. Their goal is to take somebody’s job. And the guys up here are doing everything in their power to keep their jobs.”"

What do you think Yankees fans? Will the Yankees turn things around or will Brian Cashman be forced to make a drastic move?
