Yankees Recap: Romine Sharp as New York Yankees Fall to Detroit Tigers
The New York Yankees suffered a 10-6 loss to the Detroit Tigers at Joker Marchant Stadium.
Former Tiger prospect Chad Green got the start for the Yankees today. Green had a rough outing, going 4.1 innings and allowing six runs on six hits, five of which were earned. Although Green had trouble with the strike zone today, he did show potential strikeout power, fanning four batters.
Today’s game had a lot of home runs, but most of them were from the Tigers. J.D. Martinez blasted three homers for the Tigers, while Victor Martinez and Ian Kinsler added a home run a piece. The Tigers lead the MLB in home runs through Spring Training, and might continue that trend throughout the regular season.
With only a few days left until Opening Day, Austin Romine looked sharp at the plate, going 3-3 with a two-run homer in the fourth inning. Jorge Mateo also added a couple of RBIs.
Despite the loss, the Yanks seem well prepared and ready to start their season on April 4th.
The Yankees are back in action tomorrow as they host the Tampa Bay Rays at 1:05 pm.
