Aaron Judge Acclaimed By Yankees Legend

Reggie Jackson knows the plight of  Yankees prospect Aaron Judge first hand. And if Reggie is right, big things from Judge are right around the corner.

¨My rookie year, I pressed a little bit, like Aaron did,¨ Jackson said according to NJ.com. ¨I think it´s definitely not for a lack of ability in Judge´s case. But I came back and was able to be confident and relax and do what I had to do. I think he will, too.¨

Were Judge´s struggles at Triple –A Scranton –Wilkes-Barre merely a result of putting too much pressure on himself, or did Triple-A pitchers expose a weakness? Reports say that Judge had difficulty hitting the curve ball at Scranton, but hitting coach Marcus Thames believes Judge will overcome his challenges.

¨He´s going to work hard and I still think his ceiling´s really high, ¨ Thames said according to NJ.com. ¨I know a lot of people say he struggled toward the end or whatever. But he´s still learning. He doesn´t have that many at-bats. So we don´t want to judge him too soon. But we know the kid has a lot of ability.¨

That is why his .224 batting average in Triple-A does not have Jackson nor Thames concerned. Instead, they point to his 12 home runs in just 63 Double-A games as a better indication of Judge´s potential.

More importantly, Judge´s confidence is unshaken. He speaks like a veteran who knows exactly what he needs to do to get where he wants to be. ¨It´s a learning process, and just making adjustments,¨ he said according to NJ.com. ¨I really didn´t make enough adjustments that I needed to. Pitchers made adjustments. That´s what the game of baseball is, just little adjustments to fine tune your swing, your approach, and I´m still trying to get ready for the season.¨

And if there is one thing Reggie Jackson and Marcus Thames know when they see one, it is a major league hitter.
