The New York Yankees are trying to give some of their starters a little bit of a rest. With a trade not on the horizon quite yet, the Yankees needed a starter for tomorrow night.
Luis Severino? He pitched Saturday. Bryan Mitchell? He pitched Sunday. Adam Warren? He threw 29 pitches in a stellar part of Saturday’s comeback win. Andy Pettitte? Still retired.

The Yankees instead will turn to Chris Capuano to start.

The 36 year old has been, well, not good this season to put it mildly. Capuano is 0-4 with a 5.64 ERA and a 1.55 WHIP. Yuck.
He’s given up 21 runs in 30 innings.
He pitched last Friday and gave up four runs in one inning to the Twins including allowing two homers.
But with Warren in a set up role now, and the kids in the minors not on schedule to start this game, this is what the Yankees are left with. Maybe it’ll be a combo of Warren and Capuano, but it’s what the Yanks have to work with right now.
