With the Trenton Thunder and Scranton Wilkes-Barre RailRiders all returning from their respective All-Star Breaks, the entire Yankees minor league system is back in full swing. Here is this weeks minor league recap!

Dominican Summer League

DSL Yankees 1

The DSL Yankees 1 earned a win in each of their four games played this week, improving their overall record to 28-14. They currently sit in second place and 3.0 games back of the DSL Giants for the division lead.

Player of the Week: Leobaldo Cabrera

Leobaldo Cabrera recorded five hits this week, including a three-hit performance against the DSL Orioles on July 13th. He also recorded four RBI and three runs scored, improving his overall slash line to .317/.365/.432 with 25 RBI and 44 hits in 139 at-bats.

Pitcher of the Week: Alexander Figueredo

Alexander Figueredo tossed an absolute gem this week, pitching 5.0 innings of shutout baseball, scattering six hits and two strikeouts against the DSL Mets. Figueredo improved his 2015 record to 5-0 with a 1.60 ERA is eight games started.

DSL Yankees 2

The DSL Yankees 2 won four of five games played this week, improving their overall record to 24-18. They currently sit in a two-way tie for third place with the DSL Mets 2 and 6.0 games back of the division lead.

Player of the Week: Welfrin Mateo

Welfrin Mateo recorded three multi-hit performances this week, including two two-hit performances and one three-hit game. Mateo is now slashing .315/.422/.435 with six RBI through 23 games with the DSL Yankees 2. With the lack of second base prospects throughout the Yankees farm system, Mateo is certainly an interesting name to keep an eye out for.

Pitcher of the Week: Carlos Spinal

Carlos Espinal had another solid outing this week, as he picked up another win and tossed 5.0 innings of one run baseball. Espinal scattered five hits while striking out five, and improved his overall record to 2-1 with a 1.50 ERA.
