New York Yankees Trade Targets: Possible Tyler Clippard Return?

To ensure the New York Yankees keep up the same pace in the second half of the season, they’re going to need  help wherever they can get it. Unfortunately with a packed lineup and bench, the easiest place to add pieces to would be the bullpen, and support a very questioned starting rotation.

The final addition could be a player that has already been in pinstripes once before, Tyler Clippard.

Not that the bullpen needs much help, but you can never have too much talent, and that’s what the Yankees should be going for. Tyler Clippard has emerged as a top trade piece in the league, and definitely a top asset for the Oakland Athletics. Clippard only made one appearance in the series against the Yanks. That one appearance was to seal his 16th save against his former team, and his ERA going to 2.52 in 35.2 innings pitched.

Of course if the Yankees did acquire Clippard he would go to the middle bullpen instead of closer role. One factor could be him becoming a free agent after this season though, so would he be here to stay, or just help the 2015 Yankees?

The thought of a Clippard/Dellin Betances/Andrew Miller back bone to a bullpen in general is very enticing, and I couldn’t imagine the team not thinking about it being they just went up against him.

Clippard is another player to keep an eye on for the Yanks to make a possible move on to take this team to the next level this season.
