The insults that Pedro Martinez has for former New York Yankees catcher Jorge Posada are out of line and purely ignorant. Soon after getting voted into Baseball´s Hall of Fame, he wasn´t acting like a Hall of Famer.
“I call him Dumbo,” Martinez said while gesturing to his ears in reference to Posada, according to Latino Fox News, “but that’s no reason for you to want to kill me.”
Of course, Martinez has always been a coward. The best evidence of this is when he picked on a defenseless, aging Don Zimmer during that big Yankees-Red Sox bench clearing brawl. Martinez could have battled it out with any of the young, healthy Yankees players, but instead he chose to toss down a man well passed his prime. [related category]
And also according to Latino Fox News, Martinez admits that nine out of ten batters that he hit during his career he hit on purpose. That´s yet another example of his cowardliness. Instead of addressing players man-to-man, he used the baseball like a weapon.
Then he suggests that Posada was arrogant, with a bad attitude. He complained that Posada never wanted to talk to him. Aww, that must have hurt poor Pedro´s feelings. But, how pleasant would anyone be who just got a 95 plus mile an hour fastball planted in the middle of his back? Besides, Jorge was out there to win championships, not to make friends.
“I come out here every day, and my job is important when it comes to being there every day and being there for my pitchers,¨ Posada has said, according to Baseball Almanac. ¨I really want to be known more as a defensive guy, and take my pitchers to the next level. Every time I go out on the field, I take a lot of pride in what I do at the plate, but I take a lot more pride in what I do behind the plate.”
That sounds pretty smart, doesn´t it?
