Yankees Rumors: Next Shortstop Won’t Be Jimmy Rollins
By Jason Evans
We’ve heard the names all off-season long about the shortstop possibilities. Troy Tulowitzki, Elvis Andrus, Alexei Ramirez on the trade market. Stephen Drew, Asdrubal Cabrera on the free agent market. Jimmy Rollins was a name too to watch, but according to ESPN’s Jayson Start, J-Roll won’t be Derek Jeter‘s replacement at shortstop.

Rollins has been rumored in trades all off-season long, but he does have that no-trade clause so he can pick and choose where/if he want’s to go. Rollins hit .243/.323/.394 with 17 homers and 55 RBI. Rollins will make $11 million this year (which in this market isn’t a lot) and then becomes a free agent after the season.
Ruben Amaro Jr. has had a reputation for being hard to deal with and asking for a lot. Who knows what he wanted from the Yankees for Rollins, but it was clearly something the Yankees weren’t comfortable with.
Who will be the next Yankees shortstop? Stay tuned.
