5. RHP Sam Agnew-Wieland (3-4, 4.58)

Agnew-Wieland makes the list for the second consecutive week after two very solid relief outings against the Cylcones. In that 14-4 win on August 20 that I mentioned earlier, the 24th round pick in the 2013 draft dominated in the final three innings, striking out six Cyclones and giving up three hits to pick up his first save of the season and second of his career.

However, you can make the case that his outing on Monday was one of the more important spots for the Yankees. Agnew-Weiland came in to the game in the top of the ninth inning with the game tied at one and a runner on first. With the bases loaded and one out, he would get out of it by inducing an inning-ending double play. He would get in a jam in the 10th by giving up a one-out double, but was able to keep Brooklyn off the board. The Yankees would win the game in the bottom of the tenth.

In five games this month, the 22-year-old has 14 strikeouts, two more than his totals in June and July. One of the unique stats about the reliever is that he is very good at home, pitching to a 2.31 ERA (9.00 on the road) and has 31 of his 38 strikeouts at the Richmond County Bank Ballpark in St. George.
