Pitching Matchup

The Yankees send Hiroki Kuroda to the hill as they look to build upon the excitement of coming back to win Friday night, 4-3, after falling behind in the very first inning, the Bombers found a way to pull it out in the very end. Kuroda, who has failed to go beyond the 100-pitch mark in any of his last three starts. His last outing against Tampa, the righty went 6 2/3 innings, allowing only 2 earned runs. The Yankees are attempting to protect their aging veteran, as he struggled through each of the past two season from August 1st on.

The White Sox counter with Scott Carroll, who has allowed 16 earned runs in the month of August. During his last outing, he recorded a win against the Toronto Blue Jays, and that was all he did. Carroll allowed 8 hits, 5 earned runs, and walked 3. A win is a win, but it was ugly. Carroll in his last three starts (17 2/3 innings pitched), is 1-1 with an 8.15 ERA. The Yankees if their bats are indeed coming around, should paddle the White Sox rookie for a good day at the plate offensively.
