Game Two

The second game of this series marks the long-awaited Bronx return of right-handed starter Michael Pineda. The Yankees are hoping to get a little more out of the hard-throwing, oft-injured Pineda, who lasted only 67 pitches in his big league return against the Orioles in Baltimore. He retired the first 12 Birds he faced, and then seemed to tire quite quickly. For all of the time, and recovery it’s taken to get Pineda back to this point, the Yankees really need him to step up and help lead this rotation if the Bombers have any chance at a playoff berth.

Scott Feldman will pitch for the Astros. He’s been placed on revocable waivers, so the Astros are hoping for solid performances, in an audition to perhaps make a deal with a contender prior to the August 31st deadline. Last Thursday, Feldman didn’t do himself nor the Astros any favors, and he got thumped for 7 earned runs on 9 hits against the Boston Red Sox. Houston is six games under .500 in his 22 starts this year. Chase Headley and Stephen Drew have both had success against Feldman, each taking him yard in their careers.
