5. Ty McFarland (.294, 3 HR, 33 RBI)

McFarland makes his second appearance on the top five and for good reason. The NYPL All-Star had a hit in each of the five games during the road trip. The tenth round pick in this year’s draft has now recorded a hit in eight of his last ten games. He had a triple and two RBI’s as well.

Despite McFarland being the team’s best hitter in terms of hits, he has tailed off on his batting average with each month. During the month of August, the second baseman has seven hits in 29 at-bats (.241 average) and six strikeouts. This is after a month of July where he hit .295 with 18 RBI’s and all three of his homers.

McFarland will be a player to watch in this wekeend’s series against Tri-City considering the success he had against them during the last series against them a few weeks ago. Staten Island got outscored 39-10 in the series, but McFarland went 3-for-12 in the series with a home run and four RBI’s. The extra-base hits haven’t come in the last week, but with his current five-game hit streak, McFarland will look to continue that success at home, where he is hitting over .320 on the season in 20 games.
