The Tampa Yankees (58-61) played two against the Dunedin Blue Jays (70-49).

GAME ONE: T-Yanks fall 3-1.

There wasn’t much excitement in the first game of the night for the T-Yanks. Three pitchers went two innings a piece. Brett Gerritse started and allowed two runs in his two frames, falling to 3-7 on the season. On a night where the bats were silent, surging 2014 draft pick and center fielder Mark Payton went 2-for-4. Both hits went for extra bases as he registered a double and his first High-A home run accounting for all of the T-Yanks offense.

GAME TWO: T-Yanks win 5-2.

The late nightcap had much better results for Tampa. Budding superstar, right fielder Aaron Judge wasted no time putting Tampa into the lead for good. Judge’s first inning two-run bomb paced the T-Yanks. It was his seventh homer since joining Tampa and is now batting .287. Third baseman Eric Jagielo joined in the fun smacking his 14th home run of the season. Taylor Garrison started and set the tone for the game. He went three innings allowing just one run. Cesar Vargas went the next two, allowing just one run and moving to 4-0 on the season. Alex Smith came in for the final two frames and locked down his sixth save of the season.

BOX SCORE

Tampa kicks off a series against the Lakeland Flying Tigers Tuesday night. First pitch is 7:00 PM.
