Pitching Matchup

The young 25-year-old rookie Shane Greene will get the start for the Yankees, making his sixth start in the majors. Greene enters this game with a 2-1 record and 3.68 ERA.

Rick Porcello will be the starting pitcher for the Tigers. The New Jersey native has been pitching well in his last seven starts, posting a 5-1 record with a 2.00 ERA.

In his last start, Greene had to work hard against the Red Sox, as he only lasted 4 2/3 innings. This will be another big test for him, as the Tigers offense will try to work his pitch count. The key for Greene is to not allow many walks, as he allowed three walks in his last start.

Porcello on the other hand, has been pitching well of late, but doesn’t have the best numbers at Yankees Stadium. In his two career starts, he has a record of 0-1 with a 8.10 ERA. That being said, the Yankees’ offense needs to jump on him early.
