The Baby Bombers had a pretty good day down on the farm, going 3-2 with familiar faces like Zelous Wheeler having success. Here is a recap of the today’s action.

Scranton/Wilkes Barre RailRiders (56-58) defeat Syracuse Chiefs (63-50) 13-0
The RailRiders had an almost perfect day on the diamond, scoring an impressive 13 runs, while getting great production from some of the organizations top prospects. Jose Pirela and Robert Refsnyder both had two hit days, combining to score three runs between them. Zelous Wheeler also connected for his 8th home run between the minors and the bigs. Chris Leroux pitched six quality innings, striking out 4 with no earned runs. The RailRiders and Chiefs will continue the series today @ 1:05 pm the pitchers will be Zach Nuding (2-4 6.25) vs Aaron Laffey (11-3 3.13)
DOUBLE-A
Trenton Thunder (56-59) defeat Portland Sea Dogs (71-44) 5-2
Dan Fiorito went 2-for-4 with two RBI to help propel the Thunder to the victory. Ben Gamel also added two hits and drove in a run. Trenton’s pitching had a solid day, as Joel De La Cruz threw four scoreless innings, and reliever Phil Wetherell finished out the game with 3 scoreless innings to earn the save. Trenton and Portland will continue their series today with Luis Severino (2-0 1.84) taking the mound against Eduardo Rodriguez, who will take the mound for the first time with Portland.

High-A
Tampa Yankees (54-58) lose to Jupiter Hammerheads (40-70) 7-3
Starting pitcher Jhon Morban struggled early big time, giving up six runs and seven hits in just three innings. The early pitching struggles proved to be too much to handle for Tampa, as the offense failed to get things going. One bright spot was Danny Oh, as he went 2-for-4 and drove in both Tampa’s runs on a double. Tampa will take on Jupiter again today at 1:05. Tampa will march Caleb Smith (2-0 2.65) to the mound against Matty Milroy (0-6 9.43)
Low-A
Charleston RiverDogs (55-57) lose to Hagerstown Suns (71-41) 1-0
The River Dogs couldn’t get it going with the bats; they went the full nine innings without scoring a single run, and struck out seven times. The pitching was very solid, with starter Ian Clarkin going five innings without giving up a run, but it wasn’t enough. Charleston will take on Hagerstown today at 3:05. Rookie Davis (5-8 4.69) will take the mound for Charleston Hagestown’s pitcher is TBA.
Short-Season
Staten Island Yankees (24-25) defeat Auburn Doubledays (21-27) 5-2
Staten Island received contributions from multiple players. Vicente Conde, Nathan Mikolas and Renzo Martini all drove in at least one run. Starting pitcher Jonathan Holder pitched four innings of shut out baseball and also struck out five. Staten Island will take on Auburn again today at 4:00. The pitching match up is TBA
