The Yankees are looking to get back on the winning side of things, after getting off to a hot start in the second half of the season following the All-Star break.
The Yanks will send their new found stopper, Brandon McCarthy to the mound. McCarthy has found his second wind since being traded from Arizona July 6th. He has a 2-0 record, with a 1.45 ERA. McCarthy has credited his new found success to two things: being able to throw his two-seam fastball more often, and being able to pitch in a more pressure-filled sitiuation.
Texas will march Nick Martinez (1-6, 4.73) to the mound. Martinez has struggled this year, but had one of his best starts his last time out, which was against the Yankees. He went 5 1/3, giving up just 3 hits , and this was coming fresh off the disabled list. Although Martinez had success last time out, he is very hittable, so expect the Yankees to be able to put some runs on the board.
WHAT TO WATCH FOR
Mark Teixeira‘s Return to starting lineup- Teixeira came into the game last night as a pinch-hitter. He should provide even more of a boost, as he is expected to return to the starting lineup. Tex missed 8 games due to a back strain.
Chase Headley–Headley has hit safely in every game since coming over from the Padres, as he has been a nice addition to the middle of the lineup.
