Yankees’ MiLB Roundup for July 27th: Baby Bombers Take 4 of 5

Sunday was a good day for the Yankees’ Minor League affiliates. The youngsters took four of the five games played. Charleston’s loss was the only blemish on the day. Here’s how it played out.

TRIPLE-A

Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders (52-56) defeat Pawtucket Red Sox (61-49) 3-1

Bryan Mitchell was dominant for the RailRiders, going seven shut-out innings, and allowing just three hits. He struck out six. Adonis Garcia had a pair of hits, and Jose Pirela and Zoilo Almonte each drove in a run. The RailRiders will host the Red Sox again Monday, but have not named a starter for the 7:05 first pitch.

DOUBLE-A

Trenton Thunder (51-58) defeat Binghamton Mets (63-44) 7-3

Jake Cave had another strong game Sunday. The center fielder was 3-for-4 with a triple, a homer, and three RBI. The long ball was his first since being promoted, and his fourth of the year. Manny Banuelos had another good start for Trenton, going four innings without allowing a hit or an earned run. He struck out two. The Thunder have not announced a starter for Monday’s game against the New Britain Rock Cats. First pitch will be at 7:05.

Tampa Yankees (53-53) defeat Fort Myers Miracle (64-40) 6-4

Conner Kendrick was a little shaky through five innings, allowing four runs on six hits, including a pair of home runs. He battled through, and the offense got him off the hook and in line for the win. The team collected thirteen hits, including two each from Dante Bichette Jr., Danny Oh, Jose Rosario, and Anderson Feliz. Bichette and Rosario each drove in two. The Yankees will visit the Charlotte Stone Crabs Monday at 6:30. No starters have been announced.

Charleston RiverDogs (52-54) lose to Asheville Tourists (69-37) 9-6

Ian Clarkin made the start for Charleston, going three and one-third innings. He allowed two runs on four hits. Reymond Nunez went three-for-four, with an RBI, and Miguel Andujar had two hits and drove in a run for the RiverDogs. Rookie Davis will be on the mound for Charleston Monday, when they play Asheville. First pitch will be at 7:05.
