Reunited and it feels so good. That’s what Ian Kennedy might be saying about the New York Yankees. The Yankees clearly need another starting pitcher (sorry Chris Capuano) and according to ESPN’s Jim Bowden, the Pads and Yankees are talking this:
Yankees & Padres discussing deal that would send Ian Kennedy to Yankees in exchange for Eric Jagielo and Ian Clarkin according to a source

Now Jagielo and Clarkin are a lot to give up, but Kennedy is a quality arm that the Yankees have control over. It seemed to be against the MO of what Cashman has been doing so far in adding pieces.
Here’s this from CBS’ Jon Heyman:
yankees are interested in kennedy but not in clarkin plus jagielo for kennedy.

theres nothing hot at all with kennedy and yankees at moment. theyd like a SP but no match to date on Ian K.

Well so much for that. But wait. There’s this:
Yankees also in discussions with Rockies involving Jorge De La Rosa who is red hot 3-0 with a 1.78 ERA and 1.105 Whip in July #Rockies #NYY

Per Heyman, the Orioles are also in on De La Rosa, but were asking for prized prospect Kevin Gausman in return. If that’s what they want, the Yankees will be hard pressed to match. We are less than a week to go until the deadline, so look for more stories like this.
