Top prospect Luis Severino highlights the day’s action in his debut. He pitched 5 innings of one-run baseball, which included six strikeouts and that was against one of the league’s best offenses. The rest of the Baby Bombers did great as well going a combined 4-1. Here is a recap of the day’s action.
TRIPLE-A
Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders (46-54) lose to the Charlotte Knights (43-58) 7-0
Not much went well, if anything for Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Saturday as they were only able to squeeze out two hits against a strong pitching performance by the Charlotte Knights. In fact, Charlotte sat down 16 straight SWB batters at one point. Obviously, giving up 7 runs, the pitching wasn’t much better. Nik Turley gave up 4 runs in 5 innings pitched, and Joel De La Cruz gave up 3 in just 2 innings, with a final score of 7-0. Scranton/Wilkes-Barre will take on Charlotte one last time before heading too Gwinnett. Matt Tracy (0-2 3.12) will face Daniel McCutchen (0-0 7.20) The first pitch is scheduled for 5:05 pm.
DOULBE-A
Trenton Thunder 46-54 Defeat the Binghamton Mets (59-40) 6-1
The Yankees’ #8 ranked prospect, Luis Severino shined in his debut with Trenton, pitching 5 innings with six strikeouts, and only one run surrendered. Serverino rebounded nicely, as that was the last hit he would give up for the final 4 innings of his day. This is a great sign for the Yankees’ organization. Binghamton is one of the best teams in Double-A and has a very potent offense. Serverino sawed through them rather easily. The rest of the team did well also, as Casey Stevenson had 3 RBI in the victory, as the team collected 10 hits on the day. Trenton will take on Binghamton again today at 1:05. Dan Camarena will take the mound for the Thunder (0-2 10.57). Binghamton has not yet announced their starting pitcher.
SINGLE-A

The Tampa Yankees busted out 5 runs on six hits. First baseman Gregory Bird was the star for the offense, he went 2-for-4, with 2 RBI on the day. Tampa will take on Port St. Lucie today at 5 p.m. Luis Cessa is on the mound for Port St. Lucie, Tampa’s SP is TBA.
Low-A
Charleston RiverDogs (47-52) Defeat the Augusta GreenJackets (47-51) 9-7
Jackson Velara and Michael O’Neill were the key players in the shootout with the Green Jackets, as they combined for 4 RBI and 4 hits. It wasn’t the best day for the defense, as their 2 errors allowed runs to score. Also this year’s draft pick out of Texas, Mark Payton scored 3 runs for Charleston. The RiverDogs will take on Augusta today. First pitch is at 5:05. It will be Omar Luis (2-3 5.54) for the RiverDogs Augusta has not yet named a pitcher.
