Yankees MiLB Roundup For July 17th Baby Bombers Go 3-3
Thursday was a rough day for the Baby Bombers, as they went a combined 3-3. Here is a recap of all the action from last night.
TRIPLE-A
Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders (46-52) lost to the Charlotte Knights (41-58) 5-9
The big bats for the RailRiders combined to go only 2-for-14, as the RailRiders failed to get the big hits they needed to beat the Knights. Starting pitcher Bryan Mitchell had another tough outing lasting only 4 innings, and giving up 6 earned runs. The bullpen didn’t do much better, and wasn’t able to hold the RailRiders. Kyle Roller of the RailRiders did have a nice game going 2-for-4, with his 9th homer of the year. The RailRiders will take on Charlotte again Friday night at 7:05 p.m. Chris Leroux (2-2 4.44) will go for the RailRider,s and former Yankee, Chien-Ming Wang (8-5 3.70) will go for the Knights.
DOULBE-A
Trenton Thunder (44-54) Lose to the Binghamton Mets (59-38) 8-4
Center fielder Jake Cave made his Double-A debut with the Thunder after being promoted, and he went 1-for-5. The Thunder had a revamped roster, as they have made 12 roster moves since Monday, but they still were unable to get the victory. The pitching struggled badly Thursday, Manny Banuelos lasted only 3 innings, giving up 3 earned runs. Jairo Heredia came on in relief, and gave up 4 runs. The lead was too much for the Thunder to overcome, as they would go on to lose this one 8-4. The two teams will continue the series tonight at 7:05 p.m. The Thunder will have Zach Nuding on the mound, and Binghamton’s pitcher is TBA.

High-A
Tampa Yankees (45-51) lose to the Palm Beach Cardinals (56-39) 7-3
Once again it was pitching that failed a Yanks’ minor league affiliate, as Palm Beach sent 11 men to the plate in the fourth, as they scored all 7 runs in the frame. The bats were not able to mount a comeback, but Greg Bird and Angelo Gumbs were able to blast a home run each. Tampa will take on Palm Beach at 7:05 p.m. tonight. The pitcher for Tampa is TBA. Palm Beach will march Tyrell Jenkins to the mound.
Low-A
Charleston RiverDogs (45-52) sweep a double headed against the Lexington Legends (40-58) 6-2 and 5-1
Jackson Velara went 5-for-5 in the doubleheader sweep to help Charleston knock off Lexington in both games. The first game, the score was 6-2, and the second game had a score of 5-1. The RiverDogs will take on Augusta tonight at 7:05 p.m. The pitching matchup is TBA.
