With the July 31st trade deadline approaching rather quickly, Rays’ pitcher David Price has been in the mix of names that have been in the hot seat over the last couple weeks.

Price started in the game against the Houston Astros on Friday, in which he struck out twelve, but wound up losing the game. It was an important start for Price, as it was noticed that there were many scouts for many different teams in attendance. Some of the scout representatives included the Giants, Yankees, Blue Jays, Cardinals and Indians. The Dodgers apparently are trying to chase after him as well. All of this according to Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times.

In 16 starts this season, Price is 5-7 with a 3.81 ERA. His record doesn’t reflect how his season has been going, but some of the loses can be blamed on his team’s struggling offense. He has always been a dominant pitcher, and knows how to keep batters off balance no matter what pitch he throws.

Having been a Ray his whole career, it will be interesting to see where he winds up. Many teams are going to be making a run for their money, as they are well aware of how much a boost their pitching staff will be if they were to add Price.
