Yankees’ Minor League Roundup for May 23rd

Friday was a great night for the Baby Bombers. They combined to go an impressive 3-1 on the evening. Here’s a look around the farm in today’s Minor League Roundup.

TRIPLE-A

Scranton/Wilkes-Barres RailRiders (23-23) lost to the Rochester Red Wings (25-12) 7-1.

The RailRiders have dropped two in a row behind a rough outing from Brian Gordon. Gordon went four innings allowing 8 hits and four walks. Six runs crossed the plate as Gordon was punished by the long ball. RF Ramon Flores provided the offense, going 2-for-4 with a solo shot. Zach Nuding takes the hill Saturday.

DOUBLE-A

Trenton Thunder (26-22) defeated the Richmond Flying Squirrels (23-22) 6-1.

Jeremy Bleich was lights out Friday, going seven shutout innings and striking out ten. Tyler Webb came on to go two innings, while striking out five more Flying Squirrels to earn the save. C Gary Sanchez had a monster night, going 4-for-5 with a home run and three RBI. 2B Robert Refsnyder joined in with his own long ball, going 2-for-4 on the night. RF Slade Heathcott showed some signs of life finishing the night 2-for-4.

The Tampa Yankees (25-22) defeated the Jupiter Hammerheads (22-26) 9-6.

After a rough outing from Eric Wooten, the bullpen came on to pitch four innings of one run ball. Nick Goody picked up his first win of the season while James Pazos locked up his fourth save. 3B Dante Bichette, Jr. had a huge night going 3-for-5 with his fourth home run of the year and five RBI. SS Cito Culver went 4-for-5 with two RBI of his own.

The Charleston RiverDogs (24-22) defeated the Hickory CrawDads (22-24) 6-3.

Brady Lail moved to 7-1 on the season hurling five innings of one run ball while striking out five. The offense was lead by RF Aaron Judge and DH Mike Ford. Judge and Ford both had two hits and combined for three RBI. 2B Gosuke Katoh smacked his first home run of the year. Rookie Davis gets the ball Saturday.
