Yankees’ Minor League Roundup: May 8th

The Yankees’ farm hands had a nice day Thursday. While the big-leaguers had the day off, the kids handled business, going 3-1. Here is the Yankees’ Minor League Roundup!

TRIPLE-A

Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders (17-15) defeat Indianapolis Indians (19-14) 8-4

Austin Romine had three hits for the RailRiders, while Ramon Flores had a triple and drove in three runs. Adonis Garcia and Jose Pirela each had two hits. Zach Nuding started for Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. He gave up one run and struck out four in five innings of work.

DOUBLE-A

Trenton Thunder (21-13) defeat Reading Fightin Phils (15-15) 5-3

Rob Segedin led the way for the Thunder, going 4-for-5, with a homer and three RBI. Graham Stoneburner gave up three runs in six innings and got the win. He struck out three and walked two.

SINGLE-A

Tampa Yankees (16-17) lose to Lakeland Flying Tigers (21-12) 3-1

The Yankees couldn’t muster much offense Thursday. They combined for three hits, and their only run came on a RBI double from Angelo Gumbs. Dan Camarena started and went 4 2/3 innings, giving up one run and striking out six.

Charleston RiverDogs (17-15) deafeat Rome Braves (10-23) 6-2

Leadoff man Abiatal Avelino paced the RiverDogs, going 2-for-5 with two RBI. The shortstop raised his average to.315. Michael O’Neill chipped in with three hits. Luis Severino was solid again, scattering seven hits over six innings, allowing two runs and striking out four.
