In a series of Tweets sent out by the Yankees’ official PR Department Twitter account, the Yankees have promoted right-handed pitcher Bruce Billings to the big club, and have added him to the 25-man roster.
In addition, the Yankees have also recalled right-hander Shane Greene from Triple-A. Because of these moves, the Yankees chose to option infielder Dean Anna, and right-hander Preston Claiborne to Triple-A, and have transferred Ivan Nova to the 60-day DL. These moves come on the heels of Michael Pineda‘s 10-game suspension by MLB for his use of a foreign substance last night against Boston, along with Ivan Nova’s decision to opt for Tommy John surgery with Dr. James Andrews. The team had to do some roster shuffling, as the bullpen has been completely taxed due to two blowouts in St. Petersburg at the hands of the Tampa Bay Rays, and last night’s 2nd inning ejection of Pineda, which forced Joe Girardi to use to the bullpen for 7+ innings.
